Kembla Grange trainer Paul Murray has returned from a week's holiday and is ready to start the biggest year of his career with two-year-old Phenomenal Lass at Randwick on Saturday.
Phenomenal Lass has won a barrier trial at Kembla but Murray isn't expecting too much at her first start in a race.
"She needs to be educated and the run will help her," he said.
"The only two-year-old races around are in Sydney and she's ready so we have to go there.
"You can always drop back in grade if she is not up to it there and wait for other races."
Murray is looking forward to getting stable star Predatory Pricer back into his yard next week and has mapped out a traditional Derby preparation for him.
The Street Cry colt will try to build on his spring campaign which finished with a runners-up effort to Sousa in the Group One Spring Champion Stakes (2000m).
"I'm looking forward to seeing him again and we will take him along slowly with the AJC Derby the main goal," Murray said.
"We take the usual path through the three-year-old races and run in both the Guineas before the Derby.
"The Street Crys are doing very well and if he can win a Group One he would be very valuable as a stallion."
Meanwhile, Diane Poidevin-Laine will take on the Goulburn Cup (1600m) with Command Raider and Phantom Agent on Friday.
The stayers are second-up with the Kembla trainer looking at the Group Three Summer Cup (2400m) on Boxing Day as a target for them.
"This race fits in well with their program and we can go to the Canberra Cup if they go well at Goulburn," Poidevin-Laine said.
"There are plenty of options for them over Christmas and the Summer Cup looks an ideal race."
