Kembla Grange-trained Predatory Pricer is the new favourite for the Caulfield Cup (2400m) after Lee Freedman confirmed Metropolitan winner Speed Gifted will not run on Saturday.
The Paul Murray four-year-old completed his preparation with a strong workout on the course proper at Caulfield this morning.
"He was really good this morning and I can't wait for Saturday," said Steven King, who rode Predatory Pricer in the workout and will be in the saddle on Saturday.
"Being favourite means the punters obviously rate him and he is a great winning chance."
Betting agencies have suspended Caulfield Cup markets until the final field is announced but Predatory Pricer is expected to be a $5.50 favourite when they re-open.
Cox Plate winner Maldivian will not be among the horses paying up for the Caulfield Cup this morning after he was found to heat in a joint.
Twenty four horses have made the final payment for the Caulfield Cup and the field will be announced at 3.45pm today.
