Champion Illawarra boxer Shannan Taylor was told this week that he has moved into the World Boxing Association's top rankings for middleweights, coming in at No 10.
Taylor, who holds the WBA Pan Asian Boxing Association middleweight title, added the International Boxing Federation Australasian super middleweight belt to his collection when he won at Shoalhaven Heads last month.
He is preparing for a hard fight when he takes on the dangerous Dondon Sultan in the KO Leukaemia II main event at Nowra Entertainment Centre on Friday, October 31.
Sultan has a first-round knockout over Sydney-based Russian Anton Solopov to his credit, so Taylor is aware of his punching power.
Solopov squared the ledger when he beat Sultan on points in their return bout.
"This will not be an easy fight," Taylor said, but added: "I don't want a walk in the park.
"I never walked away from hard fights in my life and I'm not going to start now."
Taylor said a fight against Anthony Mundine, ranked No 2 in the world, was in the pipeline, hopefully at the fixture after his Nowra bout.
"We're keen to fight Mundine," Taylor said.
" I've agreed to the money - I've agreed to the venue."
"I'm just waiting for Mundine to get back to me now that he's back in Sydney after playing silly-buggers with Sonny Bill Williams over in France," he added.
Taylor said no stone would be left unturned in his preparations for his fights, incorporating hard work with conditioner Dale Fritz and his boxing team.
The first KO Leukaemia boxing night was held at the Shoalhaven Heads Sports and Social Club last month to raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation.
