Taylor raring to take on Mundine

21/11/2008 4:00:00 AM
A showdown between boxers Shannan Taylor and Anthony Mundine moved a step closer following a meeting between representatives of both parties in Sydney yesterday.

The seeds of a possible prizefight were sown when Taylor visited Mundine to congratulate "The Man" after his unanimous points win over Uruguayan middleweight Rafael Sosa Pintos in Liverpool last week.

When Taylor raised the possibility of a fight with him, Mundine told him to see his manager Khoder Nasser.

A meeting subsequently took place between Nasser and Taylor's manager Jason Coorey yesterday and "The Blaster" said that it was a positive result. "We're one step closer. Khoder made an offer and I've accepted," Taylor said.

"I'm looking forward to sitting down in the next 48 hours and bringing it home to Wollongong.

"Much as I respect Anthony Mundine and he is a personal friend, once the fight starts I don't want (WIN Entertainment Centre operations manager) Milton (O'Brien) stopping it like he did at the basketball last week," Taylor said.

Ha, have that white towel ready Taylor, you will be hit with blinding fast jabs all night.

Taylor is just the type of fighter Choc loves to fight (robotic) if Mundine made a fool out of Danny Green then what do you think he will do to Taylor?

C'mon lets face the facts, it's a publicity stunt, GO MUNDINE

The quicker Anthony Mundine sacks Khoder Nasser the better. The guy has no idea about boxing. Instead of fighting in the US, he's fighting welterweights like Taylor. The disgrace has gone too far and Mundine has no fans left.

The Man really needs to step up after this fight, if not earlier.

He isn't getting any younger and with the way he fights, as soon as his speed slows he could end up like Roy Jones.

He has all the tools to reign at middleweight. C'mon Choc, please step up.

Another fiasco that promoters will expect viewers to shell out $50 to watch.

There is a limit to everything.

The last pay-per-view I watched Mundine in was the Siaca bout and that was enough.

I agree Jac.

However, Mundine cannot secure the big names in the middleweight class in America because no-one wants to fight him.

People like Pavlik and Sturm would obviously see Mundine's speed and skills as a risk, a risk they don't need to take.

After all, what belts does Choc have to offer them? None...

The US fighters arent worried about this speed, they just want to fight for big cash and fighting a guy who beats up old men isnt worth not getting paid for. The Man is over, has to resort to fighting in RSL clubs....But remember he is the greatest!
