Dragons deny wrongdoing as wee row breaks out

16 Feb, 2012 10:48 AM
Dragons chief executive Peter Doust said his club had nothing to do with an incident that has led to the carpet being ripped up at Perth’s nib Stadium following the NRL trial match against the North Queensland Cowboys.

The carpet in the change room used by the Dragons was allegedly urinated on last Saturday and had to be replaced before a Super Rugby trial tonight between the Western Force and the Queensland Reds.

Doust said his club had nothing to do with any problems that may have arisen.

"Having been informally informed by the WA Rugby League of the problems with nib stadium the Dragons categorically refute any such allegations," Doust told the West Australian.

The WA Rugby League is facing the bill for the new carpet.

The Force had not been able to use the change room this week because of the smell.

One Force member described the smell to the West Australian as "putrid, rancid. Like 100 cats had been locked up in there all weekend."

WARL chief executive John Sackson said his organisation does not want to pay the bill.

“What has happened is disgraceful and we face substantial cost and inconvenience over this,” he told the West Australian.

“We hired the venue but whether we are ultimately responsible for what happened is another matter.

“It is important to know who had access to that area. We realise it is going to be very hard to pin down who the culprit was as there were probably 100 people who had access to the area but we want to sort this out.”

It's a piddling little problem. The Steelers never had any hassles like this. Go back to your Sydney hell hole St George.

i p freely and alex, it is people like you who are anti league and St.George. Funny alex the team operates out of Wollongong, not Kogarah.

And the football season begins, its a never ending saga of urination and defecation in hotels public streets and changerooms. My children have better toilet manners than these supposed 'responsible men'.

Maybe the mining magnate who runs the West only provided girls toilets.

Read the story people, & I quote '100 people had access to the area' This would include Security

Guards & Club Exceutives, Hospitality Staff & Cleaners NOT only players. There has been no proof put forward that it was a player. Big assumption to make, but hey jump on the 'Bag a Footy player Band Wagon, after all there are a few bad ones out there so they must ALL be the same!

The Steelers players who shall remain nameless did some really appalling things in the late 80s and in the 90s. These incidents didn't reach the Sydney media because the Mercury did print the stories.

What a way to start the season. If it was the dressing room the dragons used how can it not be them. . Seriously guys pathetic. Is this what we are to expect from the new coach this year. This would never happen under wayne bennett

So there is a smell in the dressing sheds carpet and the Dragons are the ones to be blamed. Oh that's right, Rugby League players and officials have no manners, and just pee on the floor all the time. Hell I see it every week. Give it a break people. If you weren't there then you obviously don't have a clue. Pretty much like the journos who write this dribble and the knockers who have never met anyone from Rugby League or the Dragons.

"Over the Negative" have you been living in a void for the last 20 years?? You must have been, to be in such a total state of denial, this is typical behaviour right across the NRL. The culture of the game is sick to the core because of the administrations complete slavery to the almighty dollar.

Players can do just about anything in the complete knowledge that the NRL will deny, lie and cover it up just to keep the $$$$ flowing in. Its a sick culture populated by degenerate boof heads that act like feral children whenever they get together.
