Laura Fairall has been waiting more than 30 years for a rugby league premiership to celebrate, so camping outside WIN Entertainment Centre for one cold night was never going to be a problem.
The 34-year-old, who recently moved into an apartment across from WIN Stadium to get closer to her beloved Dragons, has been at the front of the line since 8pm yesterday in a bid to buy the first NRL grand final ticket when doors open at 9am today.
"Last year I got here at 2am and was third in line," she said. "I wanted to be first this year to get the best seats closest to players."
Full coverage of the Dragons VOTE: Have the Dragons entered their traditional end-of-season slump? Ms Fairall chose to ignore the obvious - while she would be at ANZ Stadium for the grand final on October 3, there was no guarantee she would be cheering on the Dragons.
"You can see they're a tighter-knit bunch this year and with more experience under their belt they should make it," she said.
"You've got to believe more to receive more. It means everything to me. It's something you wait for every year ... ."
Colleague and fellow Dragons supporter Reece Powell planned to join Ms Fairall at 6am with much-needed food and coffee.
He too was daring to dream.
A promising 2009 campaign wasn't enough to entice him to join the queue last season, but the 35-year-old believes 2010 is the year of the Dragon.
"I didn't want to buy tickets last year because I didn't want to jinx it. They peaked too early last year. But this year I have more faith and believe Wayne Bennett has a plan and is playing his cards close to his chest."
While the fans are optimistic of an elusive premiership, a grand final without the Red V would be too much to bear.
"I don't think I could face going if we (Dragons) didn't make it," Mr Powell said.
