Taking on one of the most dangerous point-scoring outfits in the NRL, St George Illawarra captain Ben Hornby admits the Dragons need to sharpen their attacking strike power.
But he warned against the team being caught in a point-scoring shootout at WIN Stadium tonight against the Gold Coast.
Hornby identified halfback Scott Prince as the Titans danger man and said the Dragons will focus on limiting his time and space in possession.
Full coverage of The St George Illawarra DragonsGold Coast produced a stunning comeback on Sunday, responding to a 14-0 early deficit to score three tries in seven minutes at one stage in their 34-20 win over Newcastle.
"They have got some talented players in Scott Prince and Preston Campbell," he said.
"And we've got to try and cut their time down, so that you get the opportunity to go up the other end and put points on them.
"We've got to be on our game. They were down 14-0, then you blink and it was half-time and they were up.
"We've got to put pressure on their key players and we will be looking to do that."
Last year at the Titans' Skilled Park base, St George Illawarra won a free-flowing game 26-22, the first time the second-year franchise had been beaten at its new headquarters.
Five-eighth Jamie Soward produced probably his best performance of the season in a thrilling contest.
But, last week, the Dragons were criticised for their inability to finish off scoring opportunities in their 17-16 loss to Melbourne.
Hornby, who missed the preseason while recovering from shoulder surgery, said he's taken it upon himself to produced a more polished display tonight.
"Our attack needs to pick up," he said.
"We created some chances and we were not good enough to finish them."
Having taken over the captaincy, Hornby refused to make his lack of game time leading into the season an excuse for the Dragons' attacking deficiencies.
"It wasn't ideal, but that was no excuse," he said.
"We just weren't good enough. We've got to improve on a few things and we feel we can turn it around pretty quickly."
