With his left arm wrapped in bandages, St George Illawarra prop Justin Poore's latest injury setback is the first major blow to the Dragons' first NRL campaign under Wayne Bennett.
Poore (right) watched from the sidelines yesterday as his team-mates trained at WIN Stadium for the first time since their nailbiting 17-16 loss to Melbourne on Friday night.
Scans later in the day confirmed the worst - that Poore had fractured a bone in his hand and is set to miss a month of football.
Full coverage of The St George Illawarra DragonsPoore suffered the injury during a tackle in the Storm clash, but bravely played on as the Dragons forced the game into extra time, only for Melbourne five-eighth Greg Inglis to snatch a golden point victory with a field goal.
It was the 24-year-old's first game since he dislocated his kneecap against the Sharks in round 21 last year.
As the Dragons prepare for their first home game of the season - against the Gold Coast at WIN Stadium on Saturday night - Dragons hooker Dean Young admitted not having Poore in the line-up will be a big loss.
"It will be - he's been playing great," Young said.
"Him and Michael Weyman have been doing a great job in the trials and especially last week (against the Storm)."
Poore is expected to return for the Dragons' round-six clash game against Newcastle at WIN Stadium.
Dragons recruit Neville Costigan, who scored three tries in a standout performance for St George Illawarra's feeder club Shellharbour on Sunday, is a leading contender to take Poore's place in the team.
South African-born Jarrod Saffy is another option to come into the starting line-up, with Dan Hunt likely to remain on the bench.
Bennett will name his team for the Titans clash today.
Weyman, who was close to being the Dragons' best on Friday night, refused to let Poore's injury distract him.
"I'm not going to worry about it too much about it, to be honest - I'm just going to worry about my own game," he said.
"Me and Poorey have been working well together, but hopefully he won't be out for too long."
