Leg injury takes Hornby out of trials

27 Jan, 2012 03:19 PM
St George Illawarra captain Ben Hornby will miss the Dragons’ upcoming trial games against the Cowboys and the Rabbitohs due to a leg injury.

Scans today have revealed Hornby suffered ‘‘moderate’’ damage to his left thigh during a training accident this week.

Dragons performance director Andrew Gray expects the 32-year-old to make a full recovery in time for the Dragons’ season opener against the Knights on March 1.

Hornby was due to play the Cowboys on February 11 and the Rabbitohs (Charity Shield) on February 18.

The Dragons will also trial against the Bulldogs next Saturday at Wollongong’s WIN Stadium, but Hornby wasn’t expected to be an inclusion.

More details in tomorrow’s Mercury.
