Premiership-winning halves Kieran Foran and Daly Cherry-Evans officially launched the 2012 NRL season during a lavish ceremony in Sydney last night.
In what was essentially an unveiling of the NRL’s new headquarters at Moore Park, the Manly playmakers led a ceremony featuring more than 300 NRL players, coaches, club chief executives, officials and sponsors.
Representing the Dragons were winger Jason Nightingale, coach Steve Price and chief executive Peter Doust.
The launch included the NRL’s 2012 advertising campaign - a slightly revamped rendition of Bon Jovi’s Our House theme.
The event comes eight days before the Dragons kick off the season with their round one opener against the Knights in Newcastle next Thursday.
The ceremony capped off a big day in rugby league after the newly formed Rugby League Commission officially scrapped the McIntyre finals system in favour of a model similar to the AFL’s.
Australian Rugby League Commission chairman John Grant and chief executive David Gallop were also present at the ceremony.
St George Illawarra will officially launch their season campaign during events across the Illawarra today.
