Michael Weyman waits on results of ankle scan

30 Jun, 2009 05:00 AM
St George Illawarra front-rower Michael Weyman will know the extent of his ankle injury today after having scans yesterday.

The 24 year-old prop twisted his right ankle when he fell awkwardly in a tackle in the first half of last Friday's win against the Tigers.

Medical staff are hopeful he will be available for Friday's clash against the Sydney Roosters at WIN Jubilee Stadium.

The Dragons' Origin representatives were given the day off training yesterday, but Weyman was at WIN Stadium and walking without the aid of crutches.

Weyman has been one of the Dragons most consistent players this season, achieving NSW selection but has endured a horror run of injuries and suspension throughout his career.

From 2003 to 2008 Weyman played 47 games for the Canberra Raiders, including just eight last season.

With changes expected for the NSW team in Origin III, Weyman will be especially keen to get back on the field and reclaim his starting place in the Blues side.
