Filling the shoes of the most successful rugby league coach of all time is a daunting task, but St George Illawarra assistant Steve Price says he's feeling no extra pressure as he takes charge of the Dragons' first-grade squad this week.
Bennett is preparing the NRL All Stars for Saturday's inaugural Indigenous All Stars match in Queensland and Price will coach the Dragons in the six-time premiership winner's absence.
"I'll just be myself - he's (Bennett) a great guy to work under but I've just got to be Steve Price, not Wayne Bennett," Price said. "I've just got to be myself and put my mark on it."
Full coverage of the Dragons St George Illawarra play Parramatta in a trial match at Perth's ME Bank Stadium on Sunday, a re-match of last September's semi-final, when the eighth-seeded Eels upset their more fancied rivals.
The two teams also face off in round one of the 2010 NRL premiership at Parramatta Stadium on March 12.
Far from being out for revenge, Price said his team would be concentrating on "getting the basics right" and believed the result was irrelevant.
"We're not going out worrying about them at all - we haven't even spoken about them," he said.
"We're just worrying about what we can control and that's going out and playing the footy we're capable of playing. We play them in round one, so we'll just go out there (this weekend) and enjoy ourselves."
"We've just got to get out there and improve ourselves as individuals and as a group. But we've got no pressure on ourselves going over there."
The club's front-rowers, including new recruits Junior Paulo and Michael Greenfield, will get their first chance to press claims for Justin Poore's vacated starting spot.
"We're not expecting miracles from them ... but there is definitely a spot up for grabs there," Price said.
"Every player will get a fair opportunity out there, we're just going to be competing and cracking in and just work on a few basic areas that we've been working on since December."
