Wendell Sailor's temporary teammates have rolled out the welcome mat for his much-hyped rugby league comeback.
Free to play after serving a two-year drug ban, Sailor signed a two-year deal with St George Illawarra earlier this week.
But before making his Dragons debut, the dual international will line up with the Shellharbour Marlins for two weeks in the Jim Beam Cup.
He will meet his Marlins comrades for the first time at this afternoon's training session before starting on the wing in the Shellharbour number 20 jersey in tomorrow night's home clash with Erina.
"He tried a few different jerseys, but No 20 was the only one that fit him," Marlins president Peter Blaine said.
"He'll definitely be starting. The purpose of him being here is to get him match-fit for the Dragons, so unless something happens, he'll be playing a full game."
Sailor will join the rest of the Marlins at a team dinner following tonight's training run.
"All the boys are pretty excited about it. I remember as a young kid watching him on TV and I'm sure we'll all get a kick out of playing alongside someone of that calibre," Marlins halfback Blake Dureau said.
"I'm looking forward to seeing him get the ball and watching him go. We're fourth and Erina are fifth, so it should be a good game."
Narooma-based Marlins centre Keiran Stewart said playing with Sailor would be a "dream experience".
"I follow Queensland in State of Origin and loved watching him when I was a young bloke. To play with him is going to be pretty exciting," Stewart said.
"My family follows a lot of football and they're really looking forward to it."
Sailor's inclusion squeezed prop John Green out of a spot, but he copped his omission on the chin.
Also-rans last year, the Marlins have won their past four games to be holding down fourth spot.
The Shellharbour community has been buzzing all week and the former Broncos, Reds, Waratahs and Wallabies star's presence should ensure a near-record crowd at Ron Costello Oval.
"Having a dual international is a big plus for our team, so it should be fun," Marlins back-rower Daniel Deaves said.
"He sounds pretty keen and it'll be good to play beside him. The thing is we have to make sure we concentrate on the game and keep doing the things that have got us on this winning streak."
Shellharbour five-eighth Brad Davidson said the Marlins have "been improving every week".
"We've equalled last year's win total and it'd be great to keep it going on Saturday because we've got another home game next week," Davidson said.
"There's supposed to be a big crowd and everyone I've spoken to has asked me about Wendell. There's a lot of hype around the game and it should be pretty exciting to play with him."
