Tech Waratahs coach Paul Darby will be looking to do a Kim Clijsters when his team lines up against Avondale in the Illawarra rugby grand final at WIN Stadium tomorrow.
Darby returned to coaching this year after leaving the TechTahs post in 2005 with a premiership.
It is a similar break to Clijsters who won the US Open earlier this week and Darby is hopeful of the same result.
"I have thoroughly enjoyed the year and to win the grand final would cap it off," Darby said.
"I was still involved in the club in some capacity over the past couple of years but to be back coaching has been interesting.
"The game hasn't changed that much but with ELVs everyone has had to adjust a bit."
Darby won titles in 2004 and 2005 and his return as coach has seen TechTahs win the minor premiership and they went straight into the grand final by beating Avondale 43-26 in the major semi-final.
The Wombats earned their spot with a 32-19 win against defending premiers Shoalhaven last week.
"I think the two best teams from the year are in the grand final," Darby said.
Darby labelled TechTahs major semi-final win their best performance of the year and his side will take a lot of confidence from the win.
They were able to tame Avondale's huge pack and the backs were able to run in six tries.
The battle of the forwards will again be important tomorrow with Darby worried about the Wombats scrum.
"We just really hold on at scrum time but we have a couple of big guys who are good in the line-out and I think we have an advantage if we can be quick to the breakdown and clear the ball," he said.
Grand final draw for Saturday at WIN Stadium: Third grade, noon - Shamrocks v University. Second grade, 1.25pm - Vincentia v Camden. First grade, 3.05pm - Tech Waratahs v Avondale.
