Jayden Hutchinson joins state gold rush

18 Jan, 2012 03:00 AM
Outstanding Corrimal Swim Club teenager Jayden Hutchinson won five medals, including four gold at the NSW state age championships in Sydney.

The 13-year-old won three freestyle gold and a butterfly gold, plus bronze in the 13-years individual medley at the titles at Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre at Homebush.

Hutchinson won gold in the 13-years 200m, 400m and 800m freestyle and showed his versatility with gold in the 200m butterfly. The youngster also finished a top-10 finalist in three other events.

His individual performance is one of the greatest by a Corrimal Swim Club (CSC) member at a NSW state age championship, with Hutchinson among six CSC members to compete at the meet.

Two other members, Ashleigh Anderson and Liam Jenkins, made finals, with all members performing well.

Several CSC juniors are now training for the 5km 2012 Australian open water championships in Perth next month, while Hutchinson has qualified for the big event of the season, the Australian age championships in Brisbane in April.
