Puppy named Smokey survives BBQ fork through head

A puppy named Smokey has made a remarkable recovery after a barbecue fork became lodged in its brain at a garden party in the US.The 12-week-old dog spent three days with the metal fork in its head before a veterinarian was able to remove the three-inch prong from its brain.

  • VIDEO: Stunt plane crashes into car in Germany Smokey has since made virtually a full recovery - but owner Hughie Wagers did not initially think the story would have such a happy ending.The dog was playing at the family party when a fork on the grill snapped in half and impaled the puppy.Smokey ran away, and it was not until two days later that Mr Wagers found him cowering in the bushes with the fork still in his head.He took Smokey to the vet immediately, and the prong was removed.Dr Keaton Smith said Smokey still had some slowness in movement in his right eye, but had otherwise recovered well.
