Sea lion 'hijacks' police boat

03 Jul, 2009 05:15 PM
Police in southern California were astonished to find a sea lion sitting in the driver's seat of their boat with one flipper on the wheel.

Orange County Sheriffs Department deputies James Slikker and Tracy Sizemore were operating the boat from the upper bridge when they noticed that the blue police lights began flashing and the boat's emergency pump kept turning on and off.

When they descended to the lower deck they discovered the animal attempting to `hijack' the boat.

The animal was reportedly coaxed off the boat and swam around the harbor before getting on the dock and posing for a picture with the officers.
