Spider-Man lizard sparks exotic pet craze

22 Sep, 2009 03:15 PM
Comic book fans have been scrambling to get their hands on the latest must-have pet - a lizard that looks like Spider-Man.

The striking red and blue lizard, or Mwanza Flat Headed Agama, has a startling resemblance to the Marvel comic superhero and has sparked a rush of orders in British pet stores.

Exotic pet shops are reportedly struggling to keep up with demand from those hoping to own their own Spidey, according to reports.

The lizard, which is native to Kenya, can change colour to fit into its environment.

It has become known among fans as Spider-Man Lizard.

However Australian comic book fans will have to admire the reptile from afar, as quarantine laws prevent the animal from being imported into the country.
