Great waves, rugged coastline, secluded hamlets and family-friendly play areas; there is a patch of sand to suit every beach lover.
But now Wotif.com has confirmed the NSW South Coast’s reputation as a coastal paradise, with the region named most popular in the website’s first Battle of the Beaches.
The area, which encompassed Wollongong, Jervis Bay and Batemans Bay, received more page visits on the accommodation website than each of its daily rivals over the week-long competition.
Rhiannan Grant, public relations manager of Wotif.com, said NSW South Coast beat out some heavyweight competitors, including Queensland’s Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast as well as the Whitsundays.
“The NSW South Coast pipped heavyweights Thailand, the Sunshine Coast, Sydney and the Gold Coast on its way to the top spot,” Ms Grant said.
“To be considered in the same league as such world famous beaches is an honour in itself, but to come out on top definitely justifies bragging rights.’’
