The blaze, seven kilometres west of Sussex Inlet, was brought under control by firefighters over the weekend, however, authorities fear the fire could jump containment lines with the onset of strong winds and high temperatures today and tomorrow.
The fire, which began on Monday, January 7, threatened the towns of Sussex Inlet and Wandandian last week, forcing residents to evacuate to nearby centres, and closed the Princes Highway for a number of days after it jumped the road on Tuesday, January 8.
Firefighters are today focused on strengthening containment lines and extinguishing small blazes in the north-western section of the fire.
Residents of Sussex Inlet and Wandandian are urged to keep a close eye on the situation.
Yerriyong State Forest, Conjola National Park and the Granite Falls section of Morton National Park remain closed.
