A Christian Brother involved with a school in the Illawarra has been accused of molesting a boy.
Brother William Michael Hocking, of Wollongong, has been charged with three counts of indecently assaulting a male and two of sexual assault knowing no consent was given.
He has pleaded not guilty to all counts.
The charges date back to assaults allegedly committed in 1984 in Keiraville and Penrith.
Police claim Hocking, 68, indecently assaulted the boy between February 1 and March 30, 1984, and again between March 26 and March 30, 1984. Another incident is alleged to have occurred between April 1 and May 30, 1984.
Solicitor Greg Walsh, acting for Hocking, told Wollongong Local Court yesterday that he was likely to make an application to have the matter heard at a different venue.
He said the allegations related to a local school, and the media interest in the case would necessitate it being heard in Sydney.
Yesterday Magistrate Michael Stoddart adjourned the matter to February 13.
