Getting around: Free train rides around the event site from Lang Park to Flagstaff Hill to the harbour and back.
Wollongong Town Hall, 10.30am: Citizenship ceremony.
Lang Park, noon-8.30pm: Markets and rides, live performances on the main stage, free health checks, wood chopping demonstrations, food and novelty vendors; 8pm: Australia Day award winners.
Osborne Park: McDonald's children's stage, food and novelty vendors, children's amusement rides, animal farm.
Cliff Road, 12.30pm: Gun battery march from Old Courthouse to Smiths Hill Battery and firing of the cannons.
Wollongong Harbour, 8am: Aquathon; 11am and 6pm: Stand Up Paddle Boarding; 11am: Sailing regatta; noon: thong throwing; 1-4pm: sand sculpture; 8.45pm: Circus Monoxide and Outrigger display.
Flagstaff Hill and surrounds, 11am-7pm: Kite flying, helicopter rides, remote control cars, Austin vehicle display.
Marine Drive, 3pm: Hospital bed run.
Wollongong Harbour, 9pm: Fireworks spectacular
Road closures, 5am-10.15pm: Marine Drive, Flagstaff Hill, Cliff Road between Marine Drive and Georges Place, Harbour Street between Smith Street and Cliff Road, Robertson, Hector and Hinton streets, Fish Co-op Road and Inner Harbour, no access into Campbell Street from Corrimal Street eastbound; 8.30pm-10.15pm: Crown Street between Harbour Street and Marine Drive; gates to Flagstaff Hill.
All businesses in road closure zones are open for business and are accessible by foot.
SHELLHARBOUR CELEBRATIONS
Reddall Reserve, Lake Illawarra, 7-10am: Breakfast, $4, finishes 10am sharp; 7-11am: live music, children's activities including Matilda's Farmyard Nursery and face painting; 8am: civic and citizenship ceremonies with address from Australia Day ambassador Ben Creagh and the announcement of the Shellharbour citizens of the year. 8am: sand modelling competition with $1000 prize.
Shelly's: Free family event, live music, face painting, citizenship ceremony, sand modelling competition; fireworks.
KIAMA, GERRINGONG, JAMBEROO CELEBRATIONS
Kiama Downs Surf Club, 7-11am: Breakfast on Jones Beach, flag raising, sand modelling, treasure hunt, brickie’s relay, thong throwing and basketball shootout. Afterwards there will be a barbecue lunch on the deck and music and the bar will be open.
Kiama Surf Club, 7am; breakfast.
Outside Kiama Community Centre, Hindmarsh Park, 11am: Citizenship ceremony and Australia Day Ambassador address, live music.
Gerringong Surf Club, 7-11am: Breakfast; 8am: guest speaker Vietnam Veteran Adrian Bishop, live performances including Rusty Hinges.
Reid Park (Kevin Walsh Oval), Jamberoo, 7am: breakfast, old-fashioned games including three-legged races, egg and spoon, tug-o-war.
