Emergency services rushed to the house in Derribong Drive at 1.15pm, after a call to say a 12-year-old boy had fallen into a swimming pool in the backyard.
It is understood he may have hit his head on the side or bottom of the pool.
Ambulance crews began CPR and quickly called for the CareFlight helicopter, which deposited a doctor and paramedic on the street before landing at nearby Sheargold Park.
The boy was taken to Wollongong Hospital but could not be revived.
A brief will now be prepared for the coroner.
