Dangerous surf conditions have closed 14 of Wollongong’s 17 patrolled beaches while the city's Twilight Markets, scheduled for tonight, have been cancelled due to forecast rain.

Only Thirroul, Sandon Point and Woonona beaches remain open.
Wollongong City Council’s lifeguards are monitoring these beaches and will close them if conditions deteriorate.
A moderate swell and southerly onshore winds have contributed to choppy, unsafe swimming conditions.
‘‘We ask swimmers and surfers exercise caution when at our beaches as this is a dynamic environment and the conditions are always changing,’’ a council spokeswoman said.
‘‘Please remember: No flags, no swim.’’
It is not known when the beaches will reopen.
The city’s tidal rock pools and ocean pools remain open.
Tonight's Twilight Markets, at Flagstaff Hill, have been cancelled due to wind and forecast storms. The markets will return March 1.
