The $15-million project, which included work on the intersections of The Avenue and Bellevue Road, had improved traffic flow through the suburb, Parliamentary Secretary for Transport and Roads John Ajaka said.
"The improvements have meant reduced peak-hour delays and queuing at major junctions and improved access to the shopping precinct," Mr Ajaka said.
"Traffic now flows much more smoothly with two lanes heading north and south [on the highway] and separated turning lanes at key intersections to ease congestion and reduce the risk of rear-end crashes."
Community members and businesses will have an opportunity to have their say during the barbecue.
The Figtree Lions Club will run the barbecue on behalf of Roads and Maritime Services. It will be held tomorrow at Figtree Oval between 11.30am and 2.30pm, weather permitting.
