Minor internal additions, including painting and installing kitchen equipment and hand rails, are the only remaining works needed to complete the $3.6 million renovations.
A Wollongong City Council spokeswoman said airconditioning, plumbing and electricity services to the building would be tested during the next few weeks to ensure they worked properly and the site would be given a final clean.
The move was anticipated to happen in March, ahead of the reopening, she said.
About 90 per cent of the original building has been replaced as part of the renovation, which began in April 2011.
Work on the site stopped two months later in June after a previously unrecorded Aboriginal midden was located during excavation.
This forced the council to wait almost eight months while government officials unearthed the midden, assessed it and worked with the council to modify the development plans before the objects were reburied.
The council also attributed much of a $1.2 million blowout in the project's original budget of $2.4 million to additional costs associated with the midden find.
Wollongong Lord Mayor Gordon Bradbery will officially open the clubhouse.
