The Illawarra Highway, at Macquarie Pass, has reopened in both directions after a truck breakdown on the lower hairpin bend closed the road this morning.
Traffic remains heavy in the area but should start to ease now the road has reopened.
Motorists are advised to allow additional travel time.
Drivers can use Picton Road as an alternative route but have been advised to add about 45 minutes to their morning commute.
