Woman allegedly glassed in Port Kembla

A woman will face court next month after allegedly glassing a female patron at a Port Kembla hotel over the weekend.

Police allege a 41-year-old woman was drinking in the main bar area of the Wentworthville St hotel about 5.30pm on Sunday.

She was approached by another patron who allegedly struck her in the side of the face with a schooner glass.

The woman sustained significant injuries to her cheek and eye and was taken to Wollongong Hospital.

She was later transferred to Sydney's Prince of Wales Hospital where she underwent emergency surgery.

She remains in a stable condition.

A 22-year-old Port Kembla woman was arrested and charged yesterday with reckless wounding.

She has been granted conditional bail to appear in Wollongong Local Court on March 6
