Athletes blitz medals

Eight highly talented Albion Park Little Athletics Club juniors helped NSW retain the Trans-Tasman Challenge at Campbelltown Sports Centre recently.

The annual carnival for under-11 and under-12 age groups alternates between NSW and New Zealand, with NSW victorious again.

The Albion Park stars won their NSW places following trials last November, with Jade Mustapic honoured as the NSW captain for the second straight year.

Representing Albion Park, Taylah Vella (under-11 girls) won the club's first medal with a bronze in the 100 metres.

Karissa High (U11s) earned a silver medal for the NSW B team in the 4x100 metre relay.

Jade Mustapic (U12s) won a bronze in the 400 metres and was fourth in the 800 metres.

Shenay Edwards (U12s) ran a great race in the 800 metres to collect a silver medal for NSW.

Clubmates Jade and Shenay teamed up to win gold for NSW in the 4x400 metres relay.

Ben Fowler (U12s B) was a member of the U12 4x100 team which won relay gold.

Jye Schumack (U12B) kept the medal tally going with a bronze in the high jump.

Albion Park's NSW representatives are preparing for the Little Athletics Regional Championships in Wagga Wagga this weekend.

A top two finish earns a spot in the NSW State Track & Field Championships next month.
