A new Illawarra initiative promoting soccer and healthy outdoor participation for children will be made available to all Illawarra primary schools.
The non-profit organisation Backyard Soccer wants to deliver free School Soccer Development Programs to up to 10,000 children in the region.
This new business is the brainchild of the Illawarra Football Academy and will be a stand-alone non-profit organisation offering this service to the local community.
The four-week program will have licensed Football Federation Australia coaches introduce soccer for children aged 5 to 12 in a friendly, structured manner.
The program will cover the basics in soccer techniques, plus have fun small-sided games and other activities, including organised school gala days and camps.
Through the program, children will have access to join their local soccer club, soccer academies and other after-school activities.
Backyard Soccer is free to primary schools with bookings essential.
The mobile visits will include two-hour sessions, with all equipment included. Contact Mark Tyssen on 0412 401 631, email info@backyardsoccer.org.au.
