Boom St George Illawarra hooker Mitch Rein has been cleared of a shoulder injury for the season opener against world champions Melbourne, as his dummy-half partner Cameron King remains under watch with concussion.
Rein came from the field during the Charity Shield with shoulder and neck pain. However, it was later determined as a "stinger" type injury with no further damage.
"It just ended up being a bit of a stinger and a bit of neural pain," Rein said.
Dragons high performance manager Andrew Gray yesterday officially cleared Rein of any further injury and he will be free to take his place against the Storm.
However, King's fitness is still to be determined after being heavily concussed in the loss to South Sydney at ANZ Stadium.
Gray said King will be put through a series of tests before determining his ability to play against Melbourne at AAMI Park on Sunday week.
"Cameron will follow our standard post-concussion medical process and will be under review this week," Gray said.
Dan Hunt (calf) is also still in doubt to play in round one after missing the Charity Shield, however, Jason Nightingale (sciatica) and Matt Cooper (calf) are poised to take on the Storm.
