With bills to pay and her eldest child starting university next week, an extra $1000 couldn’t come at a better time for Kristie Bicknell.
But the Blackbutt mum of two - the final winner in the Mercury’s iPhone app competition - plans to keep some of her winnings aside to splurge on herself as well.
‘‘I’ll definitely pay some bills, and then go shopping for something for me and something for the kids,’’ she said.
‘‘And it will be pretty hand for buying university textbooks as well.’’
Now that our launch competition is over, you can still download the free Mercury app by searching 'Illawarra Mercury' in the App Store.
More than 6000 readers have downloaded it so far.
The Fairfax Media award-winning app is easy to use and has dedicated news and sport sections, as well as blogs, photo galleries and videos.
You can also help create the news by using the app’s report function to easily send us news tips and photos.
Mercury editor Alistair Langford-Wilson said the app was great for keeping up with the region’s news on the go.
‘‘As the Mercury continues to expand and improve our web site, readers are responding in record numbers every month,’’ he said.
‘‘Now, our new iPhone app will allow them to stay in touch with what’s happening in the region.’’
