IT IS the performance that could spark the Wollongong Hawks’ play-offs charge.
After losing 13 of their previous 16 games, the man nicknamed ‘2hard2guard’ Adris Deleon was just that, proving unstoppable on his way to winning the NBL Player of the Week award.
Deleon delivered in style in the crucial 88-82 win over Melbourne, producing 31 points, eight assists and seven rebounds.
The guard edged out Sydney’s Ben Madgen for the award, who scored 33 points, eight rebounds and five assists against Townsville on Sunday.
It is Deleon’s third weekly award and his second in the past three weeks.
While they missed out by just one point in the two-all head-to-head split against Melbourne, the Hawks travel to Townsville in a bid to wrap up the series against the Crocodiles on Saturday.
It’s a crucial weekend of games, with fifth-placed Melbourne taking runaway leaders New Zealand on Sunday and Perth travelling to fourth-placed Sydney on Friday.
