Teen charged over alleged armed robberies

A 13-year-old has been charged over two armed robberies and an aggravated break, enter and steal at Warrawong last month, police said. 

Around midday on Saturday, February 9, a male armed with a machete threatened a 35-year-old pizza delivery driver on Dean Street. He allegedly took money and food from the man before fleeing the scene. 

A few days later, on Tuesday, February 12, two males allegedly entered a unit on Chisholm Street around 1.30pm and stole a number of items.

Police were call and charged an 18-year-old man who was seen running from the premises. The other person escaped the scene.

On Saturday, February 16, a 24-year-old male pizza delivery driver was allegedly robbed by a man with a machete on Denise Street. He took cash and personal belongings before leaving the scene.  

Strike Force Lynista, comprising detectives from Lake Illawarra local area command, was established to investigate the incidents.

Around 12.30pm yesterday, a 13-year-old boy was arrested on Griffin Street, Warrawong.

He was taken to Lake Illawarra police station and charged with two counts of armed robbery, aggravated break, enter and commit serious indictable offence and two outstanding warrants.

The teen was refused bail to appear at Campbelltown Children’s Court today.
