The 33rd annual Illowra Tournament will be played at Port Kembla Golf Club tomorrow, Monday and Tuesday.

The event will attract about 350 women golfers.

The open foursomes will be played tomorrow, followed by the open tournament which includes the 36-hole Port Kembla Bowl on the Monday and Tuesday.

"We have received entries from ex-state player Jocelyn Mackay and many top local players including Colleen Bell," tournament publicity officer Sue Fitzgibbon said.

"Visiting entrants are coming from the clubs throughout the Illawarra district and Southern Highlands as well as other areas including Hope Island, Young, Cabramatta and Moss Vale."

The first Illowra tournament played at Port Kembla was a one-day event. It was turned into a three-day tournament by the committee of the day in the late 1970s.

"Illowra" is an Aboriginal name for the location of Hill 60 which is where the club operated from 1934 to 1954.
