Dragons hold out hope on Stanley

Dragons coach Steve Price has named Chase Stanley in the centres for Friday night’s clash against the Broncos at WIN Stadium, despite still struggling with a knee injury.

Stanley sustained a knee sprain against melbourne on Sunday and is likely to be sidelined for one to two weeks, after initial fears he would face a lengthy stint on the sideline were allayed.

A decision on Stanley will be made later in the week.

Daniel Vidot, who was cleared after being reported for a fight which broke out in the Illawarra Cutters loss to Newtown in the NSW Cup on Saturday, is on standby.

The Dragons’ line-up is unchanged from the one named for the Storm game, with Michael Weyman and Trent Merrin named in the starting team.

However, Bronson Harris started at lock against the Storm in Merrin’s place and Leeson Ah Mau ran on ahead of Weyman.

Price has retained the faith in halves Nathan Fien and Jamie Soward despite a patchy performance in the 30-10 loss to the defending premiers.

The Dragons clash with Brisbane at WIN Stadium kicks off at 8.05pm on Friday.
