During Saturday's show in Devonport, two willing participants were plucked from the crowd to perform a three-person backflip - a stunt that involves FMX star Matty McFerran performing a backflip with two other people sitting on his motorbike.
However, the attempt ended badly when 400 kilograms of motorbike and human bodyweight landed directly on each of their heads.
The three were rushed to hospital and reportedly suffered a broken wrist and ribs between them.
"While we take every precaution to make the stunt safe, there's no guarantee we're going to be able to pull it off every time," McFerran said.
"This is Nitro Circus and what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, so I'll be back performing the trick for our show in Wollongong."
The Nitro Circus Live crew will perform at WIN Stadium on April 6.
Some of the world's best action sports athletes will perform stunts off the 15-metre-high Nitro Gigant-A-Ramp, while freestyle motocross riders will launch 14 metres into the air off FMX jumps.
The regional tour of 14 towns and cities kicked off at the weekend and Nitro Circus Live promoter Mike Porra said the skilled tricksters would be a well-oiled machine by the time they hit the Illawarra.
Nitro Circus Live's multimillion-dollar set will be put up and disassembled within 48 hours.
