Police are looking for a 20-year-old man who allegedly sparked a four-hour siege at Bellambi this morning.
Investigators have confirmed the man is no longer in his mother's Cawley Street house and they are now searching for him to assist with their inquiries.
The man was allegedly armed with a gun but police were unable to find a weapon in the house.
Police were called to the home about 9.15am after a domestic incident involving the man and his mother.
It is understood a man and a woman, possibly the man’s parents, left the home without incident but police believed the man, allegedly armed with a gun, was still inside.
Police from the tactical response unit arrived just after noon and searched the home.
Children and staff at nearby Bellambi Public School were advised to stay inside.
Police have now confirmed the road between Rothery Street and Sellers Crescent has re-opened.
No neighbouring homes were evacuated during the incident.
