He will line up with the opposition but Adelaide forward Anthony Petrie feels "privileged" to be part of former Wollongong teammate Glen Saville's swansong tomorrow night at WIN Entertainment Centre.
Petrie played one season with Saville in 2008-09, forging a firm friendship, which still endures today.
Saville decided at the start of the season that his 19th NBL campaign would be his last.
But the two-time Olympian was forced to bring his retirement forward by two months after suffering a serious knee injury in January.
The 37-year-old will be presented to the crowd one last time tomorrow when he joins his teammates on the court for the traditional pre-game introductions.
Petrie is looking forward to watching his mate bawl his eyes out.
"He'll cry, guaranteed. I'll put 50 on it that he'll cry," Petrie said.
"It just shows what he's about. That's how much it means to him. I guess that's why he was so successful for so long.
"When you've got that much drive and passion, it's a good recipe for success."
The Hawks will be assured of third spot if they beat the last-placed Sixers. Petrie made it clear his side won't be rolling over to make it easy for Wollongong.
"You're talking to the wrong bloke if you think we'll do that," he said.
"Every game you play, regardless of the situation, you want to win and do your best."
