The digital edition replicates the daily paper’s content and layout on your iPad, PC or laptop. Whether you’re at home, the office, on a train, or away on business or a holiday, you truly can “read the paper” here, there and everywhere!
The digital edition, which is available by 6am Monday to Saturday, provides a host of convenient features. A table of contents lists every story, allowing you to browse quickly for stories of interest and immediately turn to the relevant page. You can search the entire edition. You can open a story in a special reading window, and print it out or email it to a friend or colleague. Like to multitask? Your PC or laptop can read a story out to you while you whip up breakfast or check your email.
University student Amelia Caddy said the digital edition would allow students to ‘‘pull up the news on the go wherever we are, without having to carry around a paper on top of all our school books’’.
Wollongong City Council general manager David Farmer said he regularly checked a lot of information on his iPad.
‘‘The fact I can quickly check what is in the Mercury daily is very convenient. Whether I am in Wollongong or any other part of the country, I can keep up with what is in the newspaper.’’
Blackthorn Resources managing director Scott Lowe, who commutes from the northern suburbs to Sydney with his colleague, chief operating officer Tony De Santis, said the digital edition was a terrific addition to the Mercury’s digital offerings.
‘‘It is nice to be able to keep up to date with what is happening in our home town,’’ Mr Lowe said.
‘‘We also travel internationally a lot and it is good to know that with a click of the button on our iPhone or iPad we can find out what is happening back in Wollongong.’’
And best of all, the digital edition is available free for a 30-day trial period. All you have to do is register now.
