My Way was ranked fifth in the survey of 550people by Include A Charity, behind Amazing Grace, Hallelujah, Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life) and Have I Told You Lately That I Love You.
Amazing Grace also topped the least-popular funeral songs list, which included football songs, Ding Dong the Witch is Dead and Stairway to Heaven.
‘‘It is clear that music is a key component when people think about their funerals,’’ said Ross Anderson from Include A Charity, which encourages people to bequeath money to charity.
‘‘Preferred songs ranged from What a Wonderful World to Queen’s Fat Bottomed Girls.’’
The survey also found social media was a concern for those contemplating their death.
Thirty-eight per cent of respondents said they would like their Facebook accounts deactivated after they died but a quarter wanted their Facebook page to remain as a memorial.
Nearly one in five said they’d consider using an app that allowed them to write messages to loved ones on Facebook or Twitter that were delivered after death.
More unusual preferences that emerged included having a barista serve ‘‘great coffee’’ at their funeral.
