Belinda Van Krevel, 32, chose to remain in police cells yesterday when her case was mentioned in Sutherland Local Court.
She did not apply for bail and it was formally refused by magistrate Jacqueline Trad.
Van Krevel is the sister of murderer Mark Valera, who bludgeoned former Wollongong mayor Frank Arkell and shopkeeper David O'Hearn to death in separate incidents in 1998.
Van Krevel was arrested on Thursday night and charged with a single count of wounding a person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Police will allege Van Krevel stabbed the 40-year-old man in the couple's Watkin Street home last Wednesday between 6pm and 11.30pm.
Her lawyer, Mary Underwood, asked for Van Krevel's matter to be adjourned to Central Local Court on July 18, when it is expected she will apply for bail.
Valera, then aged 21, became the youngest person in NSW legal history to be sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of Mr Arkell and Mr O’Hearn.
Valera used an ashtray and a lamp base to bash Mr Arkell 40 times on the head before strangling him with a cord and sticking tie pins in his face and eyes.
Mr O’Hearn was bashed 10 times on the head with a decanter before his body was decapitated, mutilated and dismembered.
