Traffic has returned to normal.

8.15am: Motorists are advised to expect significant traffic delays on the Princes Highway following a car fire just south of Kiama bends.

The fire occurred around 7.40am this morning, closing both lanes of the highway at Gerringong. 

One lane is now open, however, traffic is extremely heavy heading north.

Emergency services are on the scene.
