St Mary’s claimed the NSW South Coast (Area 16) crown with a dominant 6-0 win over Illawarra Grammar School at JJ Kelly Park last Friday.
Midfielder Caitlin Ladic scored a hat-trick, striker Olyvia Mavridis bagged a brace and Rylee McGartland scored the other goal.
‘‘It was a fantastic performance from the whole team,’’ St Mary’s soccer coach David Woolnough said.
‘‘Caitlin was a standout and right across the park we played well.
‘‘Defender Lauren Bellinato and midfielder MacKenzie Hawkesby had great games and considering it is our first year back in the Bill Turner Trophy for some time, everyone is enjoying the success.’’
Eighteen Illawarra and South Coast girls teams have been nominated for the regional phase of a competition boasting hundreds of teams from 16 areas across the state.
St Mary’s thrashed Corrimal High 12-1 in round one, earned a tight 3-2 victory over Holy Spirit College in round two, before defeating Nowra High 3-0 to book a spot in the South Coast final.
St Mary’s are likely to play their round of 16 match on Tuesday against Mackellar Girls in Sydney.
