Three Illawarra juniors collected medals, including gold, and a senior team won several medals at the recent Australian National Kokodan titles in Melbourne.

Jessie Sheridan, Sam David and Teagan David were members of the Wollongong Judo team, which also included several senior members who starred at the prestigious judo event held last month.
Jessie Sheridan won gold for an outstanding performance in the girls under-12 division for under 45kg.
Sam David took home the silver for a great performance in the boys under-12s under-50kg class, while his older sister Teagan won a bronze medal in the girls under-14s under- 45kg division.
The team's youngest competitor, 10-year-old Brody Sheridan, competed against 11- and 12-year-olds in the 10-12 years under-45kg class and finished fourth, while 11-year-old Tyson Arneman also competed at the titles.
In the seniors division, Jacqui Stewart defended her crown by winning the gold medal in women's under-60kg class, while Samuel Barlow took home silver in the men's under-100kg and was fourth overall in the open division.
Zac Ryan also won a silver for the men's under-66kg division and was fifth overall in the open division.
Sarah Gonzalez was officially awarded her black belt (first Dan) by senior officials at the Melbourne tournament, and along with Sarah Abbott took home the bronze medal in senior team kata.
The Wollongong team acknowledged the training and support of their mentor Sensei Mick Cutajar, who had all his charges in the best possible physical and mental shape.
Sensei Mick conducted extra training at his own expense to ensure his team performed at their best.
