Kids around Wollongong will be bouncing with joy when the region's first trampoline park opens later this year.
Hangtime Trampoline Park is the brainchild of Brett Baker, the owner of Hangdog climbing gym in Auburn Street.
Mr Baker said plans for an 800-square metre facility in Coniston were now before Wollongong City Council, with floors and walls built entirely from trampolines.
"We like it for a lot of the same reasons we like climbing. It's about fitness, there's no winners or losers, it's good healthy fun, and it's exciting," he said.
"We want to provide more fun things to do that get people active and involved." Mr Baker said as the only facility of its kind in the region, and one of very few in Australia, the park would be a big drawcard for visitors and locals.
"We want to provide more fun things to do that get people active and involved," Mr Baker said.
Hangtime plans to lease a property on Masters Road in Coniston for a facility including party areas, viewing platforms, dodgeball courts, obstacle courses and foam pits.
"There are well documented health benefits for from trampolining," he said.
Mr Baker said if all went to plan they would be able to open the facility in time for the Christmas school holidays.
