FrogSolutions released a new website this week that includes two portals to foster community engagement and assist like-minded environmental businesses.
John Chichkan said the first portal was a free environmental activities calendar where community groups and organisations were invited to organise environmentally oriented activities such as clean-ups and scrub removal and publicise them.
He said the second portal was an Eco Products Illawarra Directory where businesses that sell products that reduce environmental impacts can list them at no charge.
Mr Chichkan invited Keira MP Ryan Park to the Auburn Street, Wollongong store for the unveiling of the new website designed by Brendan Short of DK Media.
Mr Chichkan said a lot of thought went into what they wanted to do when they were developing a new website.
"We thought apart from having something for our potential customers to come and see the services we offer, how can we help the community and the environment as well ... and also the business community," he said.
"After doing some research we found there are no real directories for eco-type products in the Illawarra area ... ranging from paint products to possible carpet products. We also want to help other like-minded businesses. We very much walk the walk and talk the talk in terms of environment and our philosophy towards preserving our environment for our children."
Mr Chichkan said the business also wanted to help educate people through its new Facebook page, including posting environmental good news stories and quirky pictures from around the world.
"The Australian government has also just released a very interesting energy report in terms of solar," he said.
"Essentially in five years solar installations have gone from 85,000 to just over one million installations. There are about 2.6 million people using the sun in Australia now."
