Garry Edwards will shun the chance to give recent Dapto Oaks winner Double Twist another start before the region's first ever Group 1 race next month.
The Nowra speedster was the surprise inclusion when five invites were issued for the $75,000-to-the-winner Dapto Megastar (520 metres) on September 13.
Having come within a whisker of breaking the track's 520-metre track record in the heats of the Dapto Oaks, Edwards has opted to keep his kennel star fresh for the final.
"I was planning to take her to Wentworth Park this week, but I've decided to pull the pin because, before the Oaks, I freshened her up a little bit and she seemed to thrive on that," Edwards said.
"I'll give her an easy trial at Dapto next Friday and then a couple of runs up my 300-metre straight at home and then straight into the Megastar."
The Dapto Greyhound Racing Club canvassed interest right across Australia for their flagship race, also including hot NSW pups Zulu Zeus and Jagger Swagger.
Veteran Queenslander Glen Gallon will also return to Dapto after disappointing in last year's event with talented Victorian Proven Nitro also a confirmed starter.
That quartet have been proven at Group level, but it was Double Twist's ability to run time during the Oaks series which helped sway the judging panel.
"She's earned the guernsey after the last few Thursdays. She went [29.86] last Thursday [in the final] after being knocked sideways and coming from last so if you put her one out she would nearly have to break the record."
The final three qualifiers will be the placegetters in next Thursday night's Prelude.
