Two men who allegedly beat an elderly man while he was taking an evening stroll down a North Nowra street have been refused bail.
Joshua Chamberlain, 19, and Wade Malcolm Dunley, 38, appeared in Nowra Local Court on Friday morning facing several charges over the assault.
Neither applied for bail, which was formally refused by Magistrate Gabriel Fleming.
It's alleged the pair followed 77-year-old Francois Beugels as he walked down a main road on Sunday evening.
He noticed the men trailing him and turned onto another road, police said.
They pursued him further before hitting him and knocking him to the ground.
He was found with head injuries, bruises and cuts and taken to Shoalhaven Hospital.
A tip-off from the public led to the men's arrest.
They will remain in custody until the matter is mentioned in Nowra Local Court on October 8.
