It may be only half-time, but striker Andrew Breslin's four-goal blast delivered Bellambi a massive three-goal advantage against Helensburgh heading into tomorrow night's second leg in their Illawarra Premier League promotion play-off.
Bellambi won Friday night's first leg 4-1 at Ian McLennan Park, with the second leg at JJ Kelly Park (7pm) and the aggregate winner eligible to apply for the IPL in 2014.
Breslin had the Illawarra Credit Union District League champions ahead 2-0 after just seven minutes in a stunning opening to the two-leg tie.
The striker made it 3-0 on 39 minutes before a shellshocked Thistle pulled a goal back through Andy Wanden on 61 minutes.
But Thistle's bid to limit the first leg damage was thwarted when Beslin scored just a minute later.
Bellambi and Helensburgh have not confirmed they would apply for the IPL in 2014 should they win the promotion play-off.
Bellambi were among the strongest Illawarra clubs in the 1960s and '70s before falling out of the top division in 1986.
Both Bellambi and Thistle have had excellent seasons, with Bellambi sealing their league title in the penultimate round and Helensburgh claiming the Peoplecare District crown with a final round 8-0 win over Corrimal.
Bellambi and Helensburgh will play their third game in eight days when the District League semi-finals begin on Saturday.
Helensburgh face Warilla Wanderers in the first qualifying final at Ocean Park, while Bellambi face Berkeley Sports at Tarrawanna Oval in the second final.
University take on Shell Cove FC at Keith Bond Oval and Wests Illawarra meet Picton Rangers at Ray Robinson Field in the elimination finals.
All games kick off at 2.30pm.
